IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CAMP DIRECTORS
RE 2018 CAMPERSHIP APPLICATIONS

KIC is committed to helping as many kids as possible attend as many different OCA accredited day and overnight camps as possible, within our resources. 

PLEASE REVIEW CAREFULLY

• KIC's mandate is to support summer season campers.
   
• The minimum age of a camper applying  for a day or overnight camp is 4 years and the maximum age is 17 years.  However, we will consider applications from campers over 17 years of age who have exceptionalities.
   
• Historically, KIC does not support applications from families whose gross annual income exceeds $80,000 a year, unless there are extenuating circumstances that impose a considerable financial burden on the family, such as the family requesting support for more than one child or for a child with special needs.
   
• KIC strongly believes in forming a 3-way partnership with the camp and the camper’s parents/guardians.  It is expected that both the camp and the parents/guardians will contribute financially to some degree to the child’s camp experience.
   
• KIC depends on each camp to be selective and to consider carefully the merits of each application.  
   
• The application process contains three parts: a form to be completed by the camp, a second form to be completed by the camper's parent or guardian, (Camp and Family Application Forms are attached) and the parent or guardian's required confirmation of income, in the form of Canada Revenue Agency Proof of Income Statements or Notice of Assessments for 2016 or 2017 for all income providers in the home. (T4 slips are not acceptable). All required forms and documents must be sent altogether to KIC by the camp.
   
• The firm deadline for applications is Friday, March 9, 2018.  Incomplete applications willnot be considered.  The KIC Campership Committee will review all complete applications and you will be advised no later than Friday, April 20, 2018 of the Committee's decision(s).
   
• KIC may not be able to help support all worthy applications received.  KIC's Campership Committee members give careful consideration to all comments included with all applications.
   
• If your camp is approved for one or more camper subsidies, you will be required to provide KIC with a Certificate of Insurance confirming that KIC has been added as an Additional Named Insured on your camp's Commercial General Liability Insurance Policy for the period that any camper subsidised by KIC is at your camp.
   
• KIC's subsidy comes in two equal payments.  It is the responsibility of each camp to submit a KIC Camper Report (to be provided) for each KIC subsidised camper as soon as possible following the camper's stay, and no later than September 7th, 2018, in order to receive the final payment of the subsidy awarded.
