Attending Camp Chikopi does qualify you for the CFTC Tax Credit, and if you live in Ontario, the Provincial tax credit.
Federal Children's Fitness Tax Credit (CFTC): In your tax return, you can claim the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit up to a maximum of $500 per child relating to the cost of putting them into a program of physical activity. In most cases, a camp that lasts five consecutive days and promotes cardio endurance and muscle strength will meet the criteria.
Provincial tax credits: Some provinces offer tax breaks similar to the federal fitness and arts credits: For 2015 you can claim up to $551 in eligible expenses and get up to $55.10 back for each child under 16.
Don't forget that the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) provides financial assistance to all Canadian families with young children, regardless of where they live, whatever their family circumstances or preferences. Under proposed legislation, the Government is increasing and expanding the UCCB starting in 2015. The UCCB is being enhanced by introducing a new benefit of up to $720 per year for children aged 6 through 17. By saving this money all year, it can be used towards Camp Chikopi for your child. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/uccb-puge/menu-eng.html
