Mark Tewksbury

Chikopi Alum, Olympic Gold Medalist Swimmer, Mark Tewksbury has been appointed as Canada's Chef de Mission for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Canadian Olympic Committee made the announcement Thursday. Tewksbury, 42, swam to a gold medal in the 100-metre backstroke at the 1992 Games in Barcelona where he also collected bronze. He won a silver medal in the men's 4x100-metre medley in 1988. As Chef de Mission, Tewksbury will take on the role of representative and spokesman of the Canadian Olympic Team. He will be expected to support and promote the team and create an environment conducive to achieving the goal of placing among the top-12 nations in medal count.
