Carl & Joyce Crossman
The Ole Guitar Pickers Corner, Ahmic HarbourCarl, Chikopi’s caretaker and maintenance man from 1959- 2010, and his wife Joyce, suffered a fire to their home in Ahmic Harbour on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. A lightening strike is being determined as the cause of the fire, so the fire is being ruled accidental. Carl was taken to the hospital in Parry Sound for smoke inhalation and burns to his face and neck, but fortunately he was released on Friday, and is now getting follow-up treatment as an outpatient. Carl has made good progress, with still a way to go.
Friends and family have cleared The Craft Room at their store and restaurant, and they are now making it their home until the damage at their house can be assessed. Fortunately the area of the home which was most affected was the garage, a spare room and a bathroom. The firefighters were able to remove all of Carl's precious musical instruments and their family photos.
Friends and family are having a fundraising breakfast at The Ahmic Harbour Fire Hall on Sunday morning of Thanksgiving weekend, 10-11 October. Joyce’s sister, Goldie, said that she would welcome wishes of support by e-mail (
agladd@vianet.ca) and that she would print them for Carl and Joyce. If one wishes to send a cheque to the Carl & Joyce it can be sent to Goldie, who will give it to Joyce and Carl along with the funds from the breakfast.
Bob is still at Chikopi and will attend the breakfast, if you would like to send your cheque via Chikopi, send it to Bob at 373 Chikopi Road, Magnetawan, Ontario, P0A 1P0, Canada. Mark the envelope that it is for Carl & Joyce, include a note, with details of who you are and the years you attended Chikopi.

Chikopi and Ak-O-Mak it is our turn to help the Crossman's in their time of need. Carl and Joyce have been a special part of our families for years. Please reach into your wallet to give them a start to replace their clothes and any other personal items they have lost.In the spirit of giving it does not matter the amount. It is the fact that we show our support.I suggest that we all send our donations to Bob so that he can present it from the Chikopi and the Ak-O-Mak families.Thank you for your love and support for the Crossman's!Sincerely,Chad Cradock
